San Francisco Opera holds audition for adult males with strenght and athletic ability December 4, 2010 at Zellerbach reharsal space
Great at push-ups and pull-ups? Do you put your friends to shame at the gym? Come show us what you’ve got! San Francisco Opera announces a public casting call seeking athletic men with specific skills to appear in an upcoming Company production in Fall 2011.
You don’t need to be a Navy Seal, but we’re looking for something close. This opportunity is the chance of a lifetime for ten talented men who will have the chance to show off their physical prowess to a crowd of thousands and to work alongside some of the most prominent names in opera and theater. Desired skills include push- ups, pull-ups, body strength, endurance, hand-over-hand, staged combat and full body control.
Ten men will be offered an eight-week union contract (A.G.M.A.) from August 8 – September 30, 2011. The audi- tion will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 2 p.m.–4 p.m. at Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall, Room B (Franklin Street at Hayes, San Francisco).
Requirements include:
- Males with demonstrated skill in some or all of the following: push-ups, pull-ups, body strength, endurance, hand-over-hand, staged combat and full body control
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Approximate height between5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall, preferred but not required
- Must have flexible schedule: the intense rehearsal period from August 8–September 4 will include 30-hour weeks of work, culminating in the final rehearsal week and 6 performances through September 30.
- Not required to be a union member to audition, but will be required to become a member of A.G.M.A. to begin work under this contract. To schedule an audition, members of the public should email Tim Meyer, Dance Manager at jmeyer@sfopera.com.
