San Francisco celebrates the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification
Celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification started in San Francisco on March 21st, in Union Square. After a short speech by the Consul General of Italy, Fabrizio Marcelli, who remarked on the importance of Italian unification, and the National anthem sung by children, people enjoyed a special birthday cake made by Emporio Rulli in honor of our country.
In honor of this important anniversary, the Italian Cultural Institute is presenting a series of events dedicated to the Risorgimento, the Unification of Italy, and the role these events played in our history. On March 23, the Institute hosted a presentation entitled “The Stories that made History” by Angela Benintende, Director of the Bibliographic Heritage Protection Division of Italy’s Ministry of Culture.
