Italian-American Community Services Agency 94th Anniversary Dinner Honoring David T. Giannini

The Italian American Community Service Agency will hold its 94th Anniversary Dinner on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 600 Stockton Street at California in San Francisco. The annual benefit dinner is one of the major events supporting the Agency.

This year the Agency will honor David T. Giannini. David T. Giannini was born on May 28, 1939 to Thomas and Juliette Giannini in San Francisco. David received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Santa Clara University in 1961 and his J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law in 1964.

His professional affiliations include The State Bar of California (Real Property Section), Bar Association of San Francisco (Vice Chair, Attorney Fee Disputes Committee), Marin County Bar Association, California Trial Lawyers Association, and American Arbitration Association. David’s professional experience includes being Founding Partner of Giannini Law Group, LLP, restricting practice to mediation and arbitration of disputes with an emphasis on real estate matters; Founding Partner of Giannini, Valinoti & Dito, a San Francisco based law firm with a primary emphasis in trial and appellate advocacy in Real Estate, Commercial, Insurance and Business disputes; Associate attorney in Bledsoe, Smith, Cathcart, Johnson & Rogers, a San Francisco Law Firm primarily representing defendants on behalf of their insurance carriers, in civil litigation; Captain, Judge Advocates Corps, United States Marine Corps, primarily prosecuting, before General Courts Martial trials, crimes involving embezzlement or of an accounting nature.

Presently holding the rank of Major in the United States Marin Corps reserve (inactive); prior to retirement, emphasis in the practice of law had been in the field of real estate litigation, representing national and multinational corporations, joint ventures, partnerships, associations and pension funds in problems related to real estate holdings and/or management.

The Giannini Law Firm’s representative clients included public corporations, commercial building and shopping center owners and managers, developers, contractors, engineers, real estate owners and other members of the business community. The firm also represented individuals in probate and/or trust disputes primarily concerning real estate holdings.

David’s Community Affiliations include being Past Member and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Market Corporation, a public corporation owned by the City & County of San Francisco and operating the San Francisco Produce Terminal; Past Chairman of the Board, President and currently a member of the Board of Directors, Italian-American Community Services Agency; past member-at-large, Board of Governors of the University of San Francisco School of Law Alumni Association and currently Class Representative for the Class of 1964; Member Emeritus, Board of Regents, Saint Ignatius College Prep, San Francisco; Past Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian American Bar Association; Past Member of the Board of Directors on OnLok; Past President of San Francisco’s Blackstone Post of the American Legion; Past President of the Italian Federation of California; Past President of the Columbus Day Celebration Committee of San Francisco; Past President of the Leonardo da Vinci Society of San Francisco; Past President and currently Treasurer of Il Cenacolo, a cultural and philanthropic association supporting operatic and Italian language arts; Past Member of the Board of Directors of UNICO Interasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the Chambers Landing Recreation Association, Homewood, Lake Tahoe, Ca; & Recipient (1991) of award and designation of “Cavaliere” in the Order of Merit from the President of the Republic of Italy; community service also includes several years of work as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Fee Dispute Panel; chairing a committee for the establishment of senior citizens home in San Francisco and various other pro bono services to the City and County of San Francisco.

Currently semi-retired and restricting the practice of Law to Mediation and Arbitration of Disputes (ADR) with an emphasis on Real Estate matters, David devotes the majority of his professional time to management of commercial properties personally owned and located in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.

David and his lovely wife (of 46 years), Carolyn, are both first generation Italian-Americans raised, and residing in, San Francisco and have three sons: David F. (44) also an attorney and residing with his family in Washington DC; Thomas V. (42) a Major in the US Army Corp of Engineers and residing with his family in Redwood City Ca; and Matthew J. (40), working in the solar energy industry and residiing with his family in San Francisco. David and Carolyn are the proud Nonno and Nonna of 5 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter.
