Boys’ Towns of Italy “Ball of the Year”

The Boys’ Towns of Italy San Francisco Committee held their annual “Ball of the Year” on Saturday, May 1st in the Grand Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel. The 2010 “Family of the Year Award” was presented to Lee and Eva Ceccotti and Eugene and Leanne Ceccotti-Coyne.

Lee and Eva Ceccotti became involved with Boys’ Towns of Italy in the early 1960’s and have been generous supporters. Lee has been serving on the Dinner Committee for this event for many years. Gene Ceccotti serves on the Executive Committee and also has been a long time supporter. Leanne lived in Rome with her family for a year and visited Boys’ Towns many times.

Lee, Eva and Gene were close friends of the founder of Boys’ Towns of Italy, Msgr. Carroll and have vis- ited Boys’ Towns individually and as a family many times. They admire this special mission that celebrates 65 years of giving homeless and needy children from five continents “A Chance in Life” in their democratic self- governing communities.

Mr. Larry Nibbi, Dinner Chairman, introduced Brother Patrick Sean Moffett, President Emeritus of Boys’ Towns of Italy, who gave greetings to the guests on behalf of all the youngsters in Boys’ Towns of Italy who are given new hope in life because of the generous support of the San Francisco Committee.

He presented the “Family of the Year Award” to the Ceccotti Family and Gene Ceccotti represented the family with his acceptance speech, which was very inspirational and moving telling of his visits to Boys’ Towns. Bro. Moffett also presented an award to Larry Nibbi in recognition of his serving as Dinner Chairman of the San Francisco “Ball of the Year” for 25 years.

Larry Nibbi then held the live auction which was very successful, offering many exciting gifts: one week in Florence, Italy and one week in Lake Como as well as many other wonderful gifts which the guests generously bid for. All the guests enjoyed the event, which was beautifully decorated and the music provided by Pride & Joy.
