Remembering Frank Coppa
Club Italia President Frank D. Coppa passed on December 24, 2010 at his home in Chatsworth. Frank was President of Club Italia for the past five years. Under his presidency, Club Italia at St. John Eudes in Chatsworth grew and is today one of the largest Italian social clubs in California.
Frank was a warm man with a pleasant smile and hearty hand- shake. He always welcomed you with a twinkle in his eyes and a robust greeting. His personality, caring and concern made him a popular fixture at Club Italia and endeared him to his friends and family. Frank was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma in late 2009 and fought the disease boldly. He was 77.
He was born on October 23, 1933 in West Virginia and after serving in the Army, he moved to California in 1963. His father’s family was from Sicily. Frank and his wife Lucy were married on January 8, 1955. They owned and operated JPL Plumbing from 1985 to 2006. An active member of the community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Northridge, California.
Frank is survived by his wife Lucy, daughter Carla, son-in-law Al Fox, and their daughter Brianna, by his son Christopher, with his wife Kristi and their children Kelsey, and Colby. Services were held on December 29, 2010 at St. John Eudes in Chatsworth, California, presided by Monsignor Nugent. Frank was interned at Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth.
