Ferragosto Picnic: Huge Success for F.I.L.

On August 15, 2010, Families of Italian Lineage held its Ferragosto Picnic at the Regional Park in Laguna Niguel, overlooking the placid lake.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter and activities due to the enthusiasm of the large group of members and guests. The weather cooperated beautifully for an afternoon filled with playing bocce, card games, socializing or just walking the beautiful trails down to the lake.

Many of the guests were so enthused with the warmth, friendship and sociability of the members that they applied for membership in this very popular organization. Chairpersons Sandy Gambino, Joann Gienapp and Venus Franceschi, who are known for their hard work and detailed planning, provided the members and their guests with what resulted in a perfect day.

The “cooks” were: Joe Mari and Frank Gambino; members helping were: Santina Cirincione, Franca Masdea, Sharon Gambino, Camille Szymczak and Franca Muriella. Visiting from Australia were Filippo and Maria Cavalere who could not believe what a great group of people were the members of F.I.L... So much so that Maria just joined in helping along with the members! Many remained until 8 p.m. just socializing, playing cards, etc. The next event for F.I.L. will be on October 19, 2010. It will be the Autumn Costume Dinner Dance at the Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills.
