Patrons of Italian Culture to Celebrate 150th Anniversary of Italian Unification with Gala Musical Program

This year, 2011, marks the historic 150 Year Anniversary of the Unification of the Italian Republic and Italian Americans throughout the United States will be celebrating this important national achievement with events and celebrations, which will be attended by hundreds of thousands of Italian American men, women and children. Southern California will be no exception, as Italian American organizations have already started preparations for many wonderful social gatherings.

The Patrons of Italian Culture, the Italian American organization responsible for the promotion of Italian Culture in Southern California for more than 50 years, operating under the auspices of the Consul General of Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and Los Angeles’ leading Italian American social clubs and organizations, will be presenting a major operatic and musical tribute to celebrate this milestone event, reports Paul Romano, Patrons’ President.

A glorious opera recital will be held at the landmark St. Peter’s Church in downtown Los Angeles, which has served as the center for the Italian American community for many generations. Following the recital a sumptuous luncheon will be served in the adjacent Casa Italiana, with musicians and additional entertainment. The Patrons of Italian Culture will be introducing to the L.A. community the newly arrived Neapolitan tenor, Rosario Monetti, who will also be accom-anied by performers from the San Diego Opera Society, as well as many L.A. based performers.

Many Italian American celebrities and dignitaries are expected to attend. This once in a lifetime event will commence at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 30th, in St. Peter’s Church, with luncheon and entertainment to follow throughout the afternoon.
