Molisani of Southern California will honor five students of Molisani descent from Southern California awarding each student $1000.00 Scholarship on Sunday August 14, 2011 at a luncheon
Miss Mimi Capra has grown up with a loving Italian family, with traditions and a connection to Italy. Her Mom's side of the family is from Sicily-Province of Palermo. She is grateful for receiving this scholarship from the Molisani of Southern California. Her father was born in San Polo Matese-Province Campobasso, Molise. She spends a lot of time together with her family especially for their Sunday dinners and all the holidays.
When she went to Italy she was very happy in San Polo Matese attending the "feast of Santa Maria" on August 5th, going to Sunday mass at Chiesa Madre, and taking part on the big fun day "Santa Assunta" on August 15. Her favorite things about going to Italy are food, the friendships she made, and the unity with everyone.
Mr. Jordan T. Goodsell spent most of his life in the entertainment industry from the age of four. He has given recitals since he was four. His favorite roles have been: The Mad hatter, Laurie, Troy Bolton, Cowardley Lion, and Jafar, etc. He dreams of playing, Hamlet, Jean Vanjean, Raoul and the Phantom.
He considers his relationship with God and spiritual training to be his greatest asset and blessing, because he is committed to serving others, making a difference in the rooms of life wherein he walks and fulfilling not only his passion to do what he loves, but also to help others in any way he can.
Mr. Goodsell Great – great grandparents Francesco and Angelina Grande and his Great Grandfather Alphonse Manuel and his grandmother, Jill Joanne Grande's side were from the city of Vastogirardi in the Province of Isernia, Molise.
The beauty and the greatness of music were transferred to his grandmother, Jill Joanne Grande, who was a concert pianist and opera singer. She is his amazing teacher and joy. His father Ruben Goodsell is his hero and inspiration, and his teacher of basketball.
Mr. Anthony V. Santillo family is from San Polo Matese, Province of Campobasso, Italy.
Personal Achievements: Honor Roll 2007 – 2011, participated in sports, received Varsity letter 2011 for Basketball Most Inspirational Player Award.
Volunteer Experience: Food Pantry, Kids Sports, Valencia Basketball Tournament, Blessed Kateri Fashion Show, and Los Angeles Homeless Shelter. Interest and Activities: Member of Valencia High School Basketball Team, Viking Nation Chairman and Senior Discipleship Member (Santa Clarita Young Life)
Ms. Daniella Spadafora a member of Moorpark High School Dance Team for four years, danced competitively at her dance studio for the past six years. During High School was an active member of many different clubs such as National Honor Society, Youth and Government, Pay It Forward, Vice President of Health Occupations Students of America, all of which do service activities to help the community. Her Great Grandmother originated from the city of Agnone, within the Molise region of Italy. She was nine when she passed away, but her Italian heritage has shaped her into the person she is today.
Ms. Vittoria Thomas learning experience has been focused on advanced mathematics, biology and physics. Captain and founding member of "La Reina Robotics team" she has enjoyed designing, fabricating and
operating complex functional machines, that have been successful in local and national competitions. She has already had the opportunity to use what she learned in a real world practical application through robotics.
Ms. Thomas family, from the mother side, is from San Polo Matese, Province Campobasso, Italy and she is proud of her Italian heritage. She is eager to represent her family and all who have loved and nurtured her especially at this time in her life. She thanks all those who helped her along the way to become what she is today.
The Molisani of Southern California are extremely proud to award the above students $1000.00 for their dedication to their studies. We will have a Luncheon to present the students the scholarship on Sunday August 14, 2011 at 11:30 am at the "Castaway Restaurant and Banquets" 1250 Harvard Rd., Burbank, CA 91501.
