Meatballs of Comedy at Universal
Universal CityWalk, at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club – Sunday evening is family time for Italians. Enjoying a plate of pasta, family and Italian humor can be found at the “Meatballs of Comedy”. Italian American comedians with backgrounds from Comedy Central, the Jay Leno show and other venues perform every Sunday night at the Jon Lovitz comedy club at Universal CityWalk.
The Italian humor can best be described as East Coast Italian self deprecating humor. For those who understand that this humor is meant in good fun, it can be a great evening. The usual lineup is about four to five comedians, some from the East Coast some local, but all doing their best to provide humorous entertainment. The host is Joey Sorice who hails from the East Coast. Joey works hard to provide a fun evening by bringing a little of East Coast humor to the California coast.
The night we attended featured four other comedians as well as Joey doing the introduction. Vinny Cecere, Marie Del Prete, Adam Richmond and John Diresta provided the laughs and tears as they discussed the ItalianAmerican way of life. Dinner and drinks were about $20 per person. The food was decent and the service good. The menu changes so you may not find pasta at every show. The “Meatballs of Comedy” starts every Sunday at 6 PM, and it’s free. Take your wife or someone special to this 18 and over show.
