Club Italia is Magic

The 42nd anniversary of Club Italia was celebrated with a black tie gala at the newly remodeled Sportsmens Lodge. Hosting more than 230 for dinner and dancing, the club enjoyed an unprecedented year of growth and camaraderie. The members were all dressed for a fun evening and the dance floor filled up early. The magic of Club Italia is in the leaders who bring warmth, joy and a great spirit to the members. The president, Frank Coppa and his wife Lucy were on hand as the crowd began arriving for the evening.

The fun loving couple has made socializing Italian style a motto for Club Italia. This large, fun group of Italians, who have been gathering since 1968, makes celebrating being Italian and enjoying Italian friends and fun its primary mission. Club Italia’ s crowd was warm, gregarious and happy to see their friends and associates gathered together for their annual special event.

Entertainment was provided by the Sicilian Band of Anthony Ciaramitaro. Raffles for door prizes and other fine gifts were in abundance, coordinated by vice president Biagio Faretta and his wife Lucia. The club espouses the Italian feeling of welcome and joy. The club had elections last month and the new officers for 2011 are: Frank Coppa, President; Biagio Farretta, 1st Vice President; Ciro Errico, 2nd Vice President; Marguerite Brown, Treasurer; John Brown, Recording Secretary; Luca Coppa, Corresponding Secretary; Sigrid Ravizza, Membership Secretary; Elaine LaMonica, Sergeant-at-Arms.

The club meets once a month in the San Fernando Valley, usually at St. John Eudes Church Parish Hall for their social gatherings. The club is considering moving their events to a new location.
