Award-winning International Recording Artist, Cristina Fontanelli, makes 3rd appearance at Jimmy Kimmel’s Feast of San Gennaro
Award-winning classical/crossover singer, Cristina Fontanelli, will make her 3rd-annual appearance at the Feast of San Gennaro in Hollywood CA. She will sing the “Ave Maria” at the Novena Mass on Saturday, September 25 at 12:30 p.m. and do a performance of popular Italian and Italian-American songs at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2010.
Cristina has appeared as a “headliner” at major Italian Festivals throughout the U.S. and has performed the Ave Maria at churches and cathedrals (including St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City) throughout the country. She has become a well-known personality through her recordings, her appearances on TV, radio, in concert, nightclubs, and opera, and through her recent acting debut on network television. On January 20, 2005 Cristina Fontanelli opened the ceremonies at the Stars and Stripes Presidential Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C. for an audience of over 6,000 VIP guests. This following her “Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts” from the Order Sons of Italy in America (previous honoree Luciano Pavarotti).
She has appeared with the Palm Beach Opera, the Cairo Opera, Opera of Hong Kong, the NY Grand Opera, NJ State Opera. She appears annually at the world-famous, Feinstein’s at the Regency Hotel, in NYC, and has received rave reviews for her nightclub entertainment abilities, in addition to her classical concert and operatic appearances. A listing of the popular “giants” she has appeared with include Tony Bennett and Joel Grey. Ms. Fontanelli is a guest artist with many prestigious orchestras including the Boston Pops and the St. Louis Symphony performing in major concert halls throughout the U.S. and the world, including the Lincoln and Kennedy Centers. She has completed three world-tours with the Mantovani Orchestra.
Her beautiful soprano voice has taken her to the White House for President Clinton’s holiday celebration, to Gracie Mansion at the invitation of Mayor Rudy Giuliani, to Washington, D.C. for the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), to Lincoln Center with stars from the Metropolitan Opera, to the Waldorf-Astoria for the Columbus Citizens Foundation honoring Franco Zeffirelli and to the prestigious National Arts Club in NYC.
Recent appearances include a 9/11 memorial concert at Rockefeller Center with the NYPD Concert Band (televised on CNN, Fox National and NY Channels 5, 7 and 9) and the Columbus Day Parade on 5th Avenue NYC. She was signed by platinum-record winning producer to record “Cristina Fontanelli Sings Great Italian Favorites”. Her numerous awards include the American Opera Auditions and awards from the Puccini and Koussevitsky Foundations.
She is currently being nominated for her “Service to New York” by the National Association of Female Executives and has received “Woman of the Year” awards from the NYC Transit Authority, the NJ Federation of Italian and Italian-American Societies and the Ethnic Press Council of Toronto. She recently opened the ceremonies of the prestigious Hamptons Classic Horseshow which is the largest in the U.S.
Upcoming events include a VIP Press event in Washington DC on September 22nd in honor of world-renowned designer Giorgio Gucci, and a black-tie Gala at the Pierre Hotel in NY City (September 29, 2010) for the launch of “Giorgio G” Cognac. Her 7th-Annual “Christmas in Italy” concert near Lincoln Center will take place on Sunday, November 28 at 3 p.m.
