Tony Ghezzo Honored by ICF Branch #67
It was not just an ordinary meeting at the Casa Italiana. President Ron Ferrara invited Tony Ghezzo to be especially presented to our members. So after the usual discussions and problem solving session with the Board of Directors, we enjoyed an Angiuli-catered dinner and looked forward to hearing the Ghezzo adventures.
Many of you recognize Tony Ghezzo for he is present at so many Italian clubs and organizations and is notably known as an amateur photographer, but with tendencies towards a professional artist. With a camera securely slung over his shoulder, and sometimes with another camera in hand, he quietly circles around a room, seeking the best angle for a great shot.
Tony is an unassuming first class gentleman, with a distinguished Florentine air of sophistication (although he was born in Ravenna and happily married to a refined Florentine lady). He is so quiet at times that it surprises us with his ingenuity and capability in handling the camera with ease and seemingly little effort. Every club is delighted to have Tony record their events through his lens.
He bravely recounted some of his tragic war time experiences in the mountains of Italy, where he was in daily contact with the enemy and facing the fear of death at every move. He saw first hand how the enemy bestowed cruelty on the elderly and children. Those were incredibly anxious moments – unwanted but still remaining in his memory. But despite the horrors, Tony has embraced a wonderful attitude and an aura of complacency.
His wonderful wife, Giovanna is in total support of his hobby and often she snaps the shutter, so he can be a part of the group. Tony has been a valuable contributor to L’Italo Americano for the past several years.
