“Amore” makes the world go round, but wine and music make it worth the trip. Champagne, “vino spumante” in Italia, is one of my favorites songs on the “Champagne” CD performed by “We Three” a Pennsylvania based group I have enjoyed listening to for 30 years.
I’m mentioning this CD and another six selected albums because with Valentine’s Day coming up you may want to snap up a trio of these musical CD treats, currently on sale for the unbelievably low price of $5.00 each and then with a box of Perugina chocolate “Baci” thrown in, you will be all set for a most romantic Valentine’s Day… “The Italian Connection” by Maria Gloria
Lo so mi guardate lo so
Mi sembra una pazzia
Brindare solo senza compagnia
Ma…. Ma io….io devo festeggiare
La fine di un’amore
Cameriere, Champagne!

Better than the gold of kings is the memory of happy things… And surely, some of these song titles conjure up happy memories of Italian Club family picnics, wedding celebrations and your own “dolce al duo” celebrations of yester-year.
At this low $5.00/each price per CD (plus only $5.00 shipping & handling of one to three records) I suggest that clubs also buy the Bravo Italia!, Best of Naples and Buona FestaCDs for their sing-alongs or club’s get- togethers. Among the songs on Bravo Italia! are Eh, Cumpari, Quadriglia Abruzzese, Tarantella Napoletana, La Spagnola, La Romanina, Reginella Campagnola and Quel Mazzolin di Fiori.
Among the 14 tunes on Buona Festa are (Calabria) Calavrisella, That’s Amore, Ti Voglio Tanto Bene, Just a Gigoló/I Ain’t Got Nobody, Roman Guitar, Peppino the Italian Mouse and (one of my father’s old favorites) Come Ti Facette Mammeta.
From the “Dolce Vita Days” of the 1950 and 60’s on the Best of Naples (Successi Napoletani) CD you will find, Chella Lla, Guaglione, Tu Vuo Fa L’Americano, and of course Torna A Surriento, Luna Rossa, O’ Sole Mio, O’Surdato Nnammurato, Core ‘Ngrato and O’Marenariello are on the Best of Naples disc too. Song you will find on the Salute! album include Volare, Mala Femmena, Al Di La, Gloria, Lazzarella, Funiculì, Funiculà and Luna Mezz’o Mare.
On the Champage Romance album you will also find Amore Scusami, Arrivederei Roma, Dicitencello Vuie, Ciao Ciao Bambina, Anema e Core, Quando Quando, Tu Sei La Mia Vita, Come Prima, and the Florence Affair. On the Eh Cumpari! album, in addition to “Eh Cumpari”, the song made famous by Julius La Rosa, you’ll find Solo Per te, Santa Lucia, Oh Marie, Romagna mia, A Sicilian Tarantella and Tic toc Polka.
And on the Matt Morganin concert with “We Three” CD you will find Core ‘Ngrato, Mattinata, La Donna é Mobile, Dicitincello Vuie, Marechiare, O Sole Mio and Nessun Dorma. I can assure you that the music of Vito DiSalvo& We Three is an invitation to a cele- bration reminiscent of the best things in life.
In concert Vito DiSalvo and We Three reflect a heritage that is festive, romantic, heartwarming and passionate. Their mission is to capture and translate into song the enjoyment of life, family, friends, wine, and food. And like fine wine, the band’s vari- ety of music has aged well. We Three can mesmerize a crowd with their variety of both American and Italian dance music.
The artistry of We Three stretches from the com- position of their music to the passion and technical execution of their performance, to the advancements and imple- mentation of state of the art technology. And for those of us that are non-tech types I am sure that Lana DiSalvo, if requested, will try to find the lyrics to some of the songs on the Brava Italia! and Buona Festa albums although they are not included with the CD’s as "We Three” were notable for including the lyrics with their early musical tapes.
