Dear Readers,
To the world you maybe only one person, but to one person you may be the world… With that thought in mind, let me suggest a unique and personal gift for yourself or a parent (as Mother’s Day or Father’s Day approaches) or for your own Golden Anniversary: “un romanzo”. Hire a “Ghost Writer”, one that speaks and writes Italian as well as English so you or your parent can comfortably communicate a life story to the “ghost” just as famous celebrities have done for years.
I have met several “ghost writers” through the years but Riccardo Lo Faro, a personable young man, is the one I feel would make the “as told to” life story of any Italian American a most enriching experience.
You can contact Riccardo Lo Faro by telephone at 917.238.8189, by mail at 4324 Cesar Chavez St., San Francisco, Ca 94131 or by e-mail after visiting his website at www.yourghost.eu.
For those of us not plugged in, here are a few excerpts from Riccardo Lo Faro’s www.yourghost.eu website: “So you have a great story to tell and no time to write it? This is when you need a … Ghost Writer! Your day-to-day life, your job… there is actually no way you can find the time to write that amazing story you have always thought of writing, and it just lies there, somewhere in your thoughts. Wishing to write your personal story? Wouldn’t it be great to let your family, your friends and relatives know who you really are, what you did in your life and why? Tell them what you learned from your life experiences, either personal and/or professional, giving them the opportunity of treasuring it as values and principles for their own life? “
And, with all the new technology that a bounds you can even include a DVD inside the cover and actually be seen on DVD talking to your family that is something which the “bambini” in your life will treasure long after your final “Arrivederci”… As you may know a ghost- writer writes in complete privacy and does not appear unless requested. A ghost writer has no rights over the writing, only duties: the maintaining absolute confidentiality and secrecy of all the material collected and processed.
The ghostwriter writes for you, and when he fin- ishes the writing, he has never written anything at all. You wrote it yourself. Meet your “Ghost” Riccardo Lo Faro: Following his studies in Italy and high school in California, during recent years Riccardo Lo Faro has been living in the U.S. and Italy. Formerly New York Chief Correspondent for the international, cultural magazine New York CityVeneziahe resided in Manhattan, N.Y., and California.
In New York City he was also Editor-In-Chief of Convivial Spirit, the official publication from the “Accademia Italiana della Cucina” - NY Delegation, a cultural institution of the Italian government with delegations in Italy and in major cities worldwide. He succeeded in several editorial works as ghostwriter in Italy, northern Europe, California and states throughout the U.S.A. No Hear - No See - No Say Privacy, Discretion, Confidentiality: These are fundamental factors to the ghostwriter’s work.
The ghostwriter does not surface unless you, the author, need or ask him to do so. He does the work in total confidentiality. Including all the information, documents, interviews, that you will produce to him in order to generate the story. The work may all be in your name or in “as told to” format.
Only you will decide. A ghostwriter is a professional writer who is paid to write books, biographies, memoirs, personal or family stories, articles, reports, or other tests that are officially credited to another person. Celebrities, executives, political leaders, and common people whose daily life do not allow them the extra time to write what they need to, often hire ghost-writers to draft or edit autobiographies, magazine articles or other written material.
Collecting your most important memoirs, and placing some of the unique passages of your life in written form is a great way to make it acceptable to people you love and care about. Research, organize, draft, edit, and so much more…: leave the hard work to your personal Italian American Ghostwriter! Contact Riccardo Lo Faro, telephone 917.238.8189 or e- mail RiccardoLF@aol.com. You and your family will be glad you did…

“Buon Tempo” means a good time and if you live in Northern California’s East Bay, joining the Buon Tempo Club is the place where most Italian American men will find it. This month the Buon Tempo Club will be celebrating their 52ndyear as a vibrant club but their leadership is aware that if their success is to continue the club needs to add new “roosters” to its Club Roster.
Hence the invitation to join The Buon Tempo Club as a great group of gents, a great Newsletter and a fine website, www.buontempoclub.org which, for the benefit of the technically unplugged I will excerpt for you: The Buon Tempo Clubcame together in 1958 for the single purpose of having a “good time” promoting and preserving the positive aspects of the Italian heritage.
It also provides scholarships for Italian American youth participating in activities that benefit the community. Buon Tempo meets twice a month at the Castro Valley Moose Lodge on Rutledge Road in Castro Valley. One is a family dinner, the other - just for the men - is “a boys night out to gather and enjoy our Italian heritage.” Current 2010 Club Officers: President: Sal Attinello, 1st Vice President: Rick Martens, 2nd Vice President: Joseph Sotello, 3rdVice President: Pete Covello, Financial Secretary: Wayne Caporusso, Editor/Secretary: Stan Elam.
History of Buon Tempo Club… In 1958, a small group of Italian-American men met at one of their homes and agreed to start the Buon Tempo Club in the city of San Leandro. Membership was open to San Leandro, Hayward, San Lorenzo, Castro Valley and nearby areas where there were no major Italian- American clubs.
Roy Pucci, an attorney, obtained all necessary papers for incorporation of the Buon Tempo Club. The plan was to strive for a membership of 200 members, however, beyond their expectation, in 10 years, the membership reached 400 members. A piece of property was purchased in San Leandro to build a Club Home but before construction could begin, the city of San Leandro purchased property to extend San Leandro Blvd. The remaining property, inadequate to house Buon Tempo’s was finally sold.
After a few location changes, the Buon Tempo Club members now meet at the Moose Lodge in Castro Valley. For over 40 years Buon Tempo has an annual Prep of the Year Award Night where honored high school/scholar athletes receive scholarships; one (1) male one (1) female awards, worth $1,000 each.
The Buon Tempo Club now has a Scholarship Night every June to award deserving high school seniors in the areas of Academic, Athletic and Vocational, scholarships ranging from $1,000 each to the “Bob Grazzini Memorial” Scholarship worth $1,500 for the top academic student, male or female. The Buon Tempo has awarded over $150,000 dollars to hundreds of graduates. Moneys for these scholarships come from member participation in the dinner raffle drawing and annual Crab Feedheld in late January.
t one time, Joe Di Maggio, Lefty O’ Doul and Rocky Marciano were distinguished guests at this event. Buono Tempo Club is continually supporting the community. They constructed a bocce court at Toyon Park, in San Leandro, aided “Friends of the Library” remodeling at the Main Branch, and have been a major sponsor of the “Relay for Life” Cancer walk.
The members of the Buon Tempo Club recently raised funds for the 2009 earthquake victims in Italy with a donation of $3,000 presented to Massimo Cialente, the mayor of hard-hit city of L’ Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. If geography permits, I am sure you will enjoy being a member of the Buon Tempo Club.
