Italy's young people 'discouraged'. Majority ready to emigrate

There was a time where Italians used to go abroad to make a new life. They came to the U.S., as well as other countries, and created a future for them and their families. Then Italy moved on top of the list of the world's largest economies, becoming the seventh richest country in the world. And the emigration phase was suddenly gone. A weekend of classical music - Europa Galante, Aurora Mandolin Orchestra
The last weekend of January represented a good opportunity for those lovers of classical and traditional Italian music, featuring events with two different sublime �Ensembles� as protago Berkeley, welcoming Europa Galante and conductor Fabio Biondi in a program titled �New Faces and Old� featuring concertos, symphonies and a suite from the best known to newly discovered composers, including Brioschi, Scaccia, Haydn, Bach and Handel.

The Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, in collaboration with the L.A. Opera, presents �Waiting for Simon�, a unique event aimed to introduce one of the most peculiar works by Giuseppe Verdi. The author himself once defined it �too sad and desolate�, and yet �Simon Boccanegra� features one of the best music composed by Verdi.

Italian American in Resounding Victory over Election to L. A City Council District 15
The highly contested City of Los Angeles vacancy for Council District 15, was finally filled as result of the resounding victory by Joe Buscaino, a first generation Italian American whose parents settled in San Pedro around 40 years ago from the Sicilian town of Bagheria. Waging a masterful electoral campaign, which initially consisted of nine individuals, all vying for the same position, Buscaino finally succeeded in winning with nearly 61% of the vote
